Community Guidelines

Rommie is a text chat app for adults (18+) who want to talk and make new friends. Everyone agrees to these guidelines when they create an account. To keep Rommie friendly and safe:

18+ only. Do not use Rommie if you are under 18, and do not help anyone under 18 use it.
No harassment. No bullying, threats, hate, or abuse. If someone wants to stop talking, let them go.
No sexual content. Do not send sexual messages, images, or requests.
No money requests or scams. Do not ask for money, gifts, payment details, or investments, and do not promote schemes.
Protect minors. Never share or ask for contact details to move a minor to another app or platform, and never contact anyone you believe is under 18.
No impersonation. Do not pretend to be someone else or a company.
No spam. No ads, bulk messages, links you were not asked for, or fake accounts.
Respect privacy. Do not share other people's private information without their consent.
Nothing illegal. Do not share illegal, violent, or infringing content.

How to report

In any chat, tap Report (or Block) in the banner at the top. From your Friends list, tap ⋯ next to a person and choose Report or Block. You can also email us at goodcupcakes344@gmail.com. Blocking someone stops them from contacting you.

Enforcement

We review reports. Depending on what happened, we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or permanently terminate accounts. Serious cases, such as threats of violence or any sexual content involving a minor, may be reported to law enforcement.

Child safety standards

Rommie has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, and sextortion.

Adults only. Rommie is for people aged 18 and over. Every user must give their year of birth, and we do not create accounts for anyone under 18. Existing accounts that belong to someone under 18 are closed, and under-18 accounts are blocked from contacting people they are not already friends with.
Prohibited. Sharing, requesting, or producing sexual content involving a minor; sexualizing a minor in any way; grooming; and trying to move a minor to another platform are strictly prohibited.
Reporting. Users can report any chat or person in the app, or email us. Reports involving the safety of a minor are prioritized.
Action we take. When we find or are told about CSAE, we remove the content, permanently ban the accounts involved, preserve relevant information as the law requires, and report it to the appropriate authorities, such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or local law enforcement.
Design safeguards. Chats between new matches are text only, people become friends only when both choose to, and anyone can leave, block, or report a chat at any time.
