Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2 2026.

1. Who we are

Rommie is a messaging application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Service.

2. Information we collect

Account and profile: When you sign up we collect your email and password (stored securely via our auth provider). You may optionally set a display name, username, and avatar, which may be visible to other users in conversations you join.

Messages and conversations: Message content, conversation membership, and related data are stored so we can deliver the Service. When you use cloud sync, this data is stored on our servers; you can also use local-only data via backup/restore.

Pro subscriptions: Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. We may receive and store your email and subscription status (e.g. active, canceled) from Stripe to provide Pro features and support.

Usage and technical data: We may collect general usage data (e.g. errors, feature usage) to improve the Service. Our infrastructure (e.g. Supabase) may log IP and request metadata for security and operations.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to provide, secure, and improve the Service; to process subscriptions; to enforce our terms; and to comply with law. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Sharing and disclosure

We share data only as needed to run the Service: with our service providers (e.g. hosting, auth, payments) under strict agreements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5. Data retention and your choices

We retain your account and message data while your account exists and as needed for the Service and legal obligations. You can export your data and delete your account or local data from Settings. Deleting your account may not remove data already shared in conversations with others.

6. Request account and data deletion (Rommie)

You can request deletion of your Rommie account and associated data as follows:

Steps to request deletion:

  1. Open the Rommie app (or app name as shown on the store listing).
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Go to Settings (gear icon).
  4. Use the option to delete your account or delete account and data as described in the app.
  5. Confirm when prompted. You may be asked to re-enter your password.

What we delete: Your account (email, profile, password), your message and conversation data from our servers, and your subscription linkage. Local data on your device may remain until you clear app data or uninstall.

What we may keep: We may retain certain data as required by law (e.g. tax, fraud prevention) or for legitimate business purposes for a limited period. Messages or content you sent in conversations with others may remain visible to those users and in our systems as part of those conversations; we do not delete other people’s copies of messages you sent.

Additional retention: After you request deletion, we process it within a reasonable time (typically within 30 days). Some backup or log data may be retained for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.

If you cannot access the app or need help, contact us using the support email or link provided in the app and ask for account and data deletion; we will process your request in line with this policy.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures (e.g. HTTPS, secure auth, access controls) to protect your data. You are responsible for keeping your password and device secure.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have done so, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time and will post the updated version in the app. For questions or requests about your data, contact us at the support email or link provided in the app.
